Jordan Rubio and Rebecca Sanders disagree on many political issues but police brutality is not one of them. Both Rubio and Sanders take a strong stance against the police brutality that has gripped the nation. Both are able to admit that not all cops are bad, and that there are many heart-warming stories of our policemen interacting with the public they serve. But to the ones who are abusing their powers as enforcers of the law, Rubio and Sanders condemn as criminals themselves.

Recently there has been a lot of tension in the Midwest as a result of a young unarmed black man being gunned down in the streets of Minneapolis. This is just one incident in a long list going all the way from Eric Gardner to Michael Brown. In many cases there has been uncertainty as to who was at fault and who was in the right. Michael Brown before being shot had been shown on camera robbing a store and pushing the owner around. The policeman who shot him claims he was reaching for his gun.

As a result of all these shootings many have called upon for government action. Many believe that these shootings were all inspired by the cops being racist against African Americans and have created radical groups such as Black Lives Matter. They demand a response from our candidates.

As a universal solution, both candidates agree in unison that all policemen around the country should be wearing body cameras. In this way, there is no ambiguity on whether police are guilty of crimes or not. This is also for the protection of the police. It will be able to prove in court the exact circumstances they were put under which made them take such drastic actions such as firing their gun at a suspect.

Maybe Michael Brown was reaching for his gun and the officer was just defending himself. Or maybe the officer was a racist and thought Brown an immediate threat. Either way, we’ll never know because there is no actual proof. But rest assured whether you elect Rubio or Sanders, there will be body cameras, swift justice, and assurance that our black community will be safe from our police force designed to protect them.
