SENATORS MOURN PARIS: DISCUSS ISIS

Yesterday, November 16, presidential candidates, Senator Jordan Rubio and Senator Rebecca Sanders, met with the press to discuss their issue statements and to provide reactions to the catastrophic terror attacks on Paris over the weekend.

Senator Rubio began by fleshing out his domestic policies speaking specifically of immigration policies, that he will begin by “finding a way to incorporate illegal immigrants,” as well as cutting the nations trillion dollar deficit. Although he did not mention the Paris attacks in his opening remarks, he did specify that he does consider the attack as “an act of war,” and that he supports Frances efforts to combat ISIS, and that he supports their quick and aggressive bombing of the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa. The retaliation against the Muslim terrorist self-styled Caliphate, Rubio claims does lesson their potential power in the US.

As president, Rubio proclaimed that he would be aggressive in his efforts to stop the spread of ISIS, because if they succeed, “Iran would take over.” Although Rubio's grasp of foreign policy is still worrying, he does exude a quiet confidence that bodes well for his possible discussions with the strong and willful Putin.

Seemingly to dispel criticism's of her initial reactions to the attacks, Senator Rebecca Sanders opened her statements by condemning the Paris attacks, calling them “disgusting,” and that she had “that heart sickening feeling” upon hearing of the attacks. Of ISIS, Sanders lamented that “people want to do us harm.” She is supportive of joining forces with the EU and our “Muslim” allies, directly after claiming that we should not demonize the entire religion. Sanders, in what seems out of character claimed that “war is imminent,” while reiterating that force should always be a last resort.

In an obvious attempt to humanize herself she spoke of a friend of hers who was at the concert that was one of the terrorists targets. The friend is alive and is currently hospitalized. Although I do not want to appear callous, Sanders, who famously failed to mention her own family during the first Democratic primary debate, enacted a clear political maneuver by mentioning the friends.
